National Cup run ends with narrow defeat Year 11 ESFA National Cup Round 3 RPA 0 Finchley Catholic 1 Report by Mr Costello The Year 11 team bowed out of the National Cup on Wednesday 9 October despite a resilient performance against Finchley Catholic. Missing several players for a variety of reasons, the team defended resolutely and put together some trademark passages of one-touch football which the visitors struggled to cope with. Despite several team members playing out of position and the fact the the opposition were an excellent team - and absolutely massive - the diminutive RPA midfield and defence closed down, harried and threw themselves full-blooded into every single challenge throughout. In the end there was only one goal in it, which was a penalty conceded in the first half, although Finchley did spurn several guilt-edged opportunities to seal the game as RPA chased an equaliser late on. Mr Chevous and I were extremely proud of the effort and attitude displayed by all those who played, they were an absolute credit to the school. They were a great example to those who were missing. Team: Kallum, Fred, Rasharn, Mason, Ariwan, George, Joe, Billy, William, Craig, Leo, Wahlid
