National Forecast (met.ie) 30 January 2014 Today Today will be cold and mostly cloudy. Outbreaks of rain will develop in the southwest early this morning and will gradually extend over much of Munster and Connacht. Much of Leinster and Ulster will be drier with some bright intervals and well scattered showers. Highest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees with light to moderate southeast breezes. Tonight Tonight will be mostly cloudy with patchy drizzle in places in the early night. Heavy rain will spread from the southwest overnight, falling as sleet or snow in places, especially on high ground. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 2 degrees. Southerly winds will gradually strengthen. Tomorrow Friday morning will be wet and windy with heavy rain or sleet in all areas and possibly some snow on hills. Southerly winds will be strong and gusty. The rain will gradually clear in the afternoon with bright spells and showers following from the west. Winds will become westerly and ease somewhat as the rain clears. Highest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees. Outlook On Friday night, heavy showers of rain, hail and sleet will continue and will fall as snow in places. It will become increasingly windy overnight. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees. Saturday will be very windy or stormy with widespread heavy showers of rain, hail and sleet. Westerly winds will be strong to gale force with severe gusts of between 90 and 130 km/hr. The winds will be strongest in coastal counties of the southwest, west and north. The strong winds along with very high waves and high tides may cause coastal flooding. Highest temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees Winds will gradually ease on Saturday night. Showers will die out in many areas, but will continue in the west and north. Lowest temperatures of -1 to +2 degrees with frost in places. On Sunday, showers will continue in western coastal counties, but it will be mainly dry further east. Highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees. On Sunday night, heavy rain and strong southerly winds will spread from the southwest. The rain will continue for much of Monday and will eventually clear to the east. The weather will continue unsettled through the rest of next week with spells of wet and wind weather in all areas at times and with brighter showery conditions in between.
