It has vast tracts of meadows and pastures lying across beautiful mountains. Chanderkhani, located at a height of 12,190 ft. provides an awesome and breathtaking view of some of the most beautiful snow clad mountain peaks like Tiger Thatch, Ali Ratni, Inderasan and Priyadarshini Range. Chanderkhani, one of the most popular trekking routes in the Shivalik Range. The trek route passes through dense forest with a variety of botanical species of thich and colourful foliage emanating enchanting fragrance, compelling passerby to view and appreciate the raw natural beauty. You may also meet simple Himachali folks who are proud of their land, culture and heritage. Malana is the only one village where residents still retains its 2000 years old traditions of a “Village Republic”. They have a distinct way of life, social customs, judicial system and ethics. PURPOSE: The purpose of the expedition is to expose the YHAI members to a greater adventure and to rough the rigours of plodding with a sense of love for nature and outdoor recreational activity aiming at promoting adventure in tandem with national. DURATION OF THE PROGRAM: 10 Days / 9 Nights REPORTING DATES: There will be 50 participants in each group on each reporting dates between 26th April to 31st May’2014 PROGRAM ITINEARY Day 1: Reporting at base camp. Day 2: Briefing and acclimatization. Day 3: Rock climbing and rappelling Day 4: Base camp to Malana Project by bus, then trek to Yosgo, Distance - 5 km(approx) (9000 ft) (4 hrs) Day 5: Trek from Yosgo camp to Behali campsite via Malana village, Distance - 8 km (approx)(8900 ft) (3 hrs) Day 6: Trek from Behali campsite to Waching, Distance - 7 km (approx) (9300 ft) (3 hrs) Day 7: Trek from Waching to Nagroni, Distance - 5 km (approx) (10,000 ft) (5 hrs) Day 8: Trek from Nagroni to Nauya Tapru via Chandrakhani pass, Distance - 14 km (approx) (9000 ft) (7 hrs) Day 9: Nauya Tapru to Naggar via Rumsu Village, Distance – 7 km (approx) (4 hrs) Day 10: Check out after breakfast CANCELLATION RULES: In case you are unable to join this trip you will get 50 % of the program fee as refund, provided your request is received directly in the National Office on or before 5th April’2014. HOW TO REACH THE BASE CAMP: Youth Hostel- Seobagh is 3kms from Kullu and on the left of the banks of meandering river Beas, near Jairu Mineral Water plant. It is linked by road via Ram Shila & Gamon Bridge, and commands a panoramic view of surrounding mountains. Regular bus services are available for Kullu from Delhi, Chandigarh & Punjab. The nearest Railway Stations are Ambala& Chandigarh & the nearest Airport is Bhuntar. ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES: Tented accommodation will be provided. FOOD & WATER SUPPLIES: Simple , nutritious vegetarian meals will be provided. WHAT PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING ALONG: Cotton Shirts, Slacks, Cotton Pants, Woolen sweaters or Jackets, Sun Cap, Shoes, Socks, Enameled or Steel Mug / tumbler, Plate, Spoon, Water purifying tablets, Pen knife knife, Needle, Thread, Spare buttons, Goggles, Cold Cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, medicines which you normally use at home, Camera.
