National Night Out 2014 (Tracy, CA) –On Tuesday, August 5th, neighborhoods throughout Tracy are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the”31st Annual National Night Out” crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the City of Tracy and the Tracy Police Department. Over 16,124 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world participate. In all, over 37.8 million people are expected to attend a celebration in their neighborhood. National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, and generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts. Participation will strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships while sending a message to criminals that Tracy neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. The City of Tracy is encouraging neighbors to register National Night Out events. Neighborhoods do not need to have a registered “Neighborhood Watch” to participate. Registration is free and must be received by the Tracy Police Department by July 28, 2014. During National Night Out, Police and/or City Officials will visit as many registered neighborhoods as time allows. This year’s National Night Out will be kicked off by the “Fund Fest” fundraiser sponsored by Tracy VIPS, Inc., a non-profit organization, on Saturday, July 26, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Fund Fest will be held at West Valley Mall, 3200 Naglee Road, in the parking lot nearest Famous Dave’s. Events will include document shredding, auto safety checks, plus fingerprinting kits and crafts for children. Registration forms will be available for National Night Out at the Fund Fest or can be obtained at the Police Department. Then on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 6 to 9 p.m., Tracy residents will join the rest of the nation by locking their doors, turning on the outside lights, and spending the evening with neighbors for National Night Out!
