Nearly 35,000 university students have lost the opportunity to get a grant under new legislation. The Secretary for Education and Culture in the Socialist Party, Maria del Mar Villafranca, has called on the cabinet to rectify their criteria as they go against equality. She quoted a study which showed that nearly 35,000 students would not meet the new requirement of 5.5. One of the authors of the report on the cuts has said, ‘If there is less food on the table, fewer can sit down’. Source: typically Spanish
