Nearly three months ago, God changed the course of my daughters life when she was cut from the high school volleyball team after playing her freshman year. I admit we struggled with the decision and were even bitter but when God closes a door, He opens a window... She agreed to coach her passion to third grade girls, also first year volleyball players. Because shes still driving on a permit, I attend all the practices and games with her. Ive watched her teach these seven young girls the fundamental skills of the sport. Ive witnessed her do the same drills with them, high five them when they successfully hit the ball over the net or encourage them with a hug and tell them to keep trying when they just feel like they cant. Last night, the girls won their first match all season after eight losses! Even more impressive than the win was watching ALL seven girls successfully serve the ball over the net (not all have been able to do that yet this season), and to return the ball on their opponents serves. To witness their growth from the beginning of the season to two months later was a joy for her to experience as their coach! As her mother, I couldnt have been more proud of her as the little girls parents sitting on the sidelines cheering them on to their first victory. I want to give God all the glory for equipping Alissa Marie Crawford to help these girls play with purpose, to live for Him on the court, to have fun and to always live for God. And, I praise His name for steering her heart to a future in working with children and someday will do the same when she becomes a mother. I love you sweet girl and am proud of you always!
