Nearly three years ago, I attended the memorial of a personal hero of mine. This amazing individual changed many lives, including Maya Angelous. Maya Angelou sent in a lovely video message for the occasion. ...Brian Lanker was that sort of man, and the fact that he died has broken many peoples hearts, mine included. I thought wed be hanging around and Id be cooking a lot and could cook pretty well too, and his wife, Lynda, cooks pretty well. I thought wed have years yet to cook for each other and to tell jokes, and to work puzzles because they love puzzles. Well, hes gone. His day is done, but thats on the outside, Brian Lanker can never die: his hopes, his dreams, his artistry will live on. He will live on in my prayer and my thanks. He will live on in the dreams we have of doing the right thing. I miss Brian Lanker. I will be his sister forever. My name is Maya Angelou.
