Need help from someone with experience with hot water systems just turned the pilot light on the hot water system back on and turned up the heat. If I turn it past 3 the flames at the bottom ignite (much like a stove) and I can hear the gas flowing. Can someone with experience tell me if this is normal? Its been down for about 36 hours and the water is pretty cold. Are the flames big because I have the gas high and it needs to heat up? will die down once it heats up or is it something I have to manage manually? would be good to know before I blow up the house
