Need some help guys. Im trying to repurpose an old axe handle to fit the japanese ono / Masakari i fixed up. Another member Alex Rosen is also doning the same project. He brought to my attention that the handle doesnt quite fit the eye. Mind you the top half oft he handle has been cut off. My question is how big a deal is if the handle deoesnt completely fill out the rectangle shapped eye? Id say the gaps at the corner are smaler than a pencil lead. I suppose i could make teeny tiny shims to fill the gaps. Alternatively i could use the handle in the background of the first pic. Its slightly larger and fills the gaps a little better. However i really dont like this handle. Its the same shape as the other one but doesnt flare out at the end like the other one does, its flat on the front and back of the handle. Not as comfortable to me Thoughts?
