Neoliberal atheists, the games obvious: Western neoliberals keep barely literate bible-belt baby-boomers on-side through thoroughly modern Christian fundamentalisms; but generations X and Y obviously wont have it, so irrational neolib atheism is promoted as a happening and rational alternative. As an apophatic theist of Corbinist bent, I recognise atheism as a perfectly respectable intellectual tradition, be it the dialectical materialism of Marx, the psychoanalytic tradition, the Islamic skepticism of Abu Alaa, the transcendent a/theism of Buddhism, the revolutionary, romantic atheism of Shelley, or the calm scientific atheism of Peter Higgs (of Boson fame).
