Nepal Swimming Association (NSA) announced on Monday that it will host the first Club Level Swimming Championship at the Satdobato Swimming Complex, Lalitpur on Wednesday and Thursday. "It´s our first step toward making Nepali swimming and swimmers professional," said NSA General Secretary Jagat Man Shrestha. "There are many clubs with swimming pools in the capital and some other major cities. We hope such tournaments would create environment for the clubs to enrol professional swimmers," he added. According to NSA President Ashok Bajracharya, altogether 20 clubs, including Nepal Police Club and Nepal Army, are set to participate in the championship. "Clubs from Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Kaski, Dharan and Parsa have registered for the tournament," said Bajracharya. "We had been organizing only school-level and open swimming competitions in the past. There used to be low participation from districts outside Kathmandu Valley. We hope the Club Championship will help increase participation of swimmers from outside the Valley," he added. Meanwhile, NSA President Bajracharya said the association is planning to host a tournament every month. As there are no public swimming pools with heating system, swimming tournaments are not possible in winter. "As we can´t host tournaments round the year, we are planning to host a tournament every month in favorable weather," said Bajracharya
