Net Neutrality is on my mind. eBay this morning sent me a note - TopicsExpress

Net Neutrality is on my mind. eBay this morning sent me a note asking me to urge the government to protect them from paying for bandwidth they use. So here is what I wrote to the FCC: Sirs/Madams: When Reed Hastings boo-hoos about paying Comcast to compensate for the massive amount of bandwidth his Netflix streaming service consumes, he is nothing but a Rent-Seeker. He wants to use government to shield his company from market forces. I am a customer of BOTH companies mentioned above, and am thrilled to see them work out an agreement free of government interference. I pay Comcast more than I would like (my main gripe is with their Prix Fixe cable TV), but their fat pipe allows me to buy worldwide VOIP at super-cheap rates from a non-Comcast provider. It allows me to use many other bandwidth-intensive services for my audio/video businesses...many of which (Dropbox, Vimeo, Hightail, etc) may eventually need to pay an ISP or two to keep speed up. Thats the market at work...and there are many laws already on the books to deal with anti-trust issues. Governments heavy hand of coercion will, at a minimum, distort, but before long will surely crush the innovation in this vital market. Yall could use some humility and self-control: do NOT attempt to fix what clearly aint broken. wz
