NetWorkz Educational Moment: Join the Team! As I visit our networking teams and see how individuals are doing in the chapter I notice a common fact in whether the networking chapter is working for them or not. The people who say, its great, I’m getting business, Me and Bob closed two deals last week, are the people who are on the team. You see there are some people who show up to the meeting, shake hands, joke, and do their little part in the meeting. Then leave and the next time you see them is next week. Then there are the people who greet visitors even though they didn’t have to. People who attend your members grand openings, attend other functions with members, participate in each others charities. Invite a visitor because they know they would benefit the chapter. Have one on ones, help members solve business problems. You will notice these people when you tune into a conversation before the meeting starts and you notice these people worked together in some capacity a few times last week. They are the ones that have the inside jokes only a few understand. They make fun of each other most of the meeting. The last time they saw each other wasn’t in last weeks networking meeting. These are the people who are on the team. These are the people who are truly networking. These are the people who are receiving referrals. These are the people who are building trust and friendships. Get on the team. You don’t have to try out. Just get on the team.
