Netball athlete Sarah training at the RAD centre tonight. Sarah plays in the Victorian Netball League for the Ballarat Sovereigns and in the BFL for North City. In todays session she was working on her landing technique. Small countermovement jumps over the hurdle and then sticking the landing, eyes up and stable base of support to then move in any direction. She then moved onto a fast feet hurdle square, working on her ability to jump in a variety of directions. Minimal contact time developing the stretch shortening cycle of the muscle, the more elastic energy the body can develop the more efficient the athlete. Sarah then moved into the shed and completed her strength work, video highlighting some box squats, controlled eccentric phase and then up quick off the box. A solid strength base lays the foundation for an increased power output on the court and also strengthens the body up to help with injury prevention. Good to see female athletes putting the hard work into their preparation for the their sport, Sarah is ready to tackle the preseaon with the sovereigns!
