Nets coach Jason Kidd pleads guilty to drunk driving, receives probation NEW YORK CITY – Brooklyn Nets head coach Jason Kidd pleaded guilty on Tuesday to a charge of drunk driving following his arrest in Long Island last July. The recently retired National Basketball Association star Kidd received probation from New York judge Andrea Schiavoni, Newsday reported on Tuesday. As part of his agreement with the court, the 40-year-old Kidd will also have to perform a pair of speaking engagements to American high school students on the dangers of drunk driving. The district attorney’s office said that Kidd must complete his sentence prior to his next court date which is scheduled for September 30. As long his requirements are satisfied, Kidd’s driving while intoxicated conviction will be reduced to a lesser charge of driving while impaired. Kidd announced his retirement after a 19-year NBA playing career in June. He was hired as Brooklyn’s head coach later that month.
