Networking There are three types of networkers… 1) The Poser 2) The Amateur 3) the Professional The Poser will treat networking as a lottery ticket, They hope to hit big with as little effort as possible. The post advert after advert on Facebook and every other Social Media Sphere without engaging. They attend network events to try and sell their product or service. and then don’t go for a few months because they have not sold anything. and then start the cycle all over again… The Amateur They focus on different areas, but luck is still a major factor. The focus on positioning, are they with the right group, are they with the right organisation. They look for short cuts to try and get the sales of their products or services They still post more adverts across the Social Media Sphere. The amateur is the one who is passionate about his work and that he will offer you a passionate service. However how good is passionate? well how about if your in need of an operation and at the hospital you meet your consultant surgeon who says… “wow i am so excited to be performing this operation for you today. I have been so passionate about it I could hardly sleep. No one wants to make you more healthier than I do!” you say wow thanks Doc.. rem how long have you been doing this sort of surgery.. The Consultant responds… “Oh I have never done one before but i am passionate about ti…. how would you feel with that senario? hmm passion and being passionate is fine if coupled with skill and knowledge… The Pro Is the networker who by engaging and offering titbits and advice without selling positions themselves as an expert in their field and builds a large and successful network who by word of mouth promotes their business and so the sales start happening. The also make friends and when at Network events they don’t try and sell their product or service.. but try to make friends and engage with them, offering advice. HE rarely posts adverts A professional athlete/sportsman trains hard to get to their top of their profession, its the same with the networker. Someone like Ian Gentles is a perfect example of the professional networker he sells his business by providing a platform of information to help and support others that positions him as an expert in his field and so he is the first everyone thinks about when wanting his services. So which type of networker are you?
