Never under estimate the mind of a small child........ Sometimes we assume that because they are young they dont get it it being stuff you would assume they would know a little about but not the real meaning.....of something .... Today at Joshuas school (age 7) they had the rememberance service. Joshua has always been taught to respect and honor veterans. He has been around military all his life. He has been every year to the services.... as well as funerals for fallen soldiers. Including a best family friend who was KIA in Kabul.... I know he understood as we have always talked openingly about war and why soldiers do what they do. Today at the service all the children were. Sitting on the floor only standing for our national anthem and God save the queen. Then they played the last post. Which our family has always taken very seriously... example ..silence to pay respect ....... while it played the children remained seated ....... I was pleasantly surprised to see Josh stand up .. even though he was the only child standing .... as I noticed him standing straight as a pin at attention .....I saw him wiping his eyes.... afterwards when it was all over and they were leaving the gym he stopped at me and gave me a hug. I told him I was proud to see that he stood to pay respects for the veterans and fallen soldiers ... he said ... momma I stood up to say thank you for Sgt Kirk Taylor .... I cried cause I miss him but I cried happy cries because I saw him wave to me when I stood up....did you see him momma? I miss going.g in the big army truck with him. The last post and revile is played so we can remember the fun stuff about the soldiers who died momma not the sad stuff. Good job Josh! ... Feeling proud!!
