Never underestimate the value of rest. Remember that it is during sleep that the muscles you have broken down can heal and recover. During this time, growth hormone levels are highest and the body restores chemical imbalances and depleted energy stores. Not allowing for recovery can lead to overtraining, including increased cortisol and thus, decreased DHEA. It will make you fatigued, will deplete B vitamins, as well as calcium, magnesium, and zinc, and cause you to crave carbohydrates. Chronic overtraining leads to muscle loss and weakness, reduced protein synthesis, and a compromised immune system. Make sure to give yourself adequate recovery time in your training program, including proper nutrition and supplementation to maintain nutrient levels!!
