Never would I have thought my self ever to spend a night in a hospital, yet alone 229 days inpatient before age 37. But the past seven evenings added to the tally. Yep, again, just spent another week in hospitals cleaning up the remnants of the serum sickness I acquired from the RATG treatment two weeks previous. This last week started in the ER at INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Virginia. After warning them 4 times not to pump me full of fluids because my transplant doesnt enable me to drain IV fluids like a normal person, they pumped me full of enough fluid that I gained 14 lbs in 24 hrs. Couldnt see me knee caps. Not an exaggeration. After stepping off the scale at 199 I requested transfer to Duke immediately. 2 days and a lot of agonizing joint pain from excess fluid later, I made it to Duke and it took them 1 day to fix the damage and 2 days to get me better. Missed my whole first week of a four week course to start off the second year of school. This hospital shit is getting old. Guess that means Ill be there again soon. Other to rant, just thought you all should know how wonderful my wife was to help me through all of it once again with grace, love and that beautiful smile. Thanks again Pretty Lady!!
