Nevers Swears No Vindictiveness Then Expels Muhabi The morning after the Supreme Court ruled in favour of Nevers Mumba as the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) party president, the former televangelist spoke with journalists, promising that he would not persecute people that suspended him from the party. “As a result of this ruling, my call to all our members across the country is to remain united. There will be no vindictiveness, no revenge, we are one family,” Mumba said. However during a press briefing several hours later, Mumba changed course and announced the expulsion of party Secretary General Muhabi Lungu and his deputy Chembe Nyangu. He has since replaced Lungu with Chembe Member of Parliament Mwansa Mbulakulima who will be deputized by Winnie Zaloumis. Mumba said that his decision was not an act of vindictiveness but a practical one as he could not imagine having a cordial working relationship with Lungu after all that happened during the wrangles. He also said that he had been to see fourth Republican President Rupiah Banda and hoped that the latter will grace his campaigns ahead of the January, 20 presidential elections. Mumba said that he would not mortgage the country through sourcing funding but admitted that campaign funds were coming from everywhere. “Funding for political parties comes from everywhere. You want me to tell you from where I can’t because I am not obliged to tell,” he said. There have been concerns over the source of funding for some political parties participating in the presidential election. zambiareports/2014/12/19/nevers-swears-vindictiveness-expels-muhabi/
