Todays OPEN HOME for 148 Northgate Rd, Northgate is 11:30-12:15 and Wednesday 6:00 - 6:30pm. A note from the current owner... WHAT I WILL MISS ABOUT GLENGARRIE... 148 NORTHGATE RD...MY HOME for a remarkable 10 years. Along with WHAT I WILL MISS ABOUT NORTHGATE & SURROUNDING AREA. A wonderful place to live. SPACE - Glengarrie gave me a wonderful transit from growing up on hectares of land - a farm in NQLD. My first ever move... was to this wonderful city & this beautiful home provided me with much needed space, privacy, & comfort of a homely existence, replicating to some extent the charm of a country home but very much inner city. Huge proportions of living any which way you look. Light & airy feel - always felt comfort here. ACCESS - Northgate would have to be one of the best/quickest access to both the north or south gateways. Minutes and I can be on the highway to the beach north or south! AIRPORT... as a traveller myself & with a never ending stream of large family & friend unit, I am forever accessing the airport. By the time my family land, a quick call, they get their luggage & I am chauffering them back to their indulgent BnB for their stay... (Jokes) but it often felt like I was a host with private transfers... Such easy access no longer than 15mins. Taxis are not cheap but definitely cheaper than parking at the airport for my own personal jaunts & the dog too..! We would escape frequently & a $30 taxi would get us efficiently to the airport on time including pet lodgement! TRANSPORT - Trains... frequent, efficient service to City (8 stops up to 20mins) & or beyond Central station to Gold Coast. Buses do not come past the front door but almost! short stroll up to Ridge St and you can catch a bus. I never have, as I preferred trains or driving! STARGAZING - the house is perfectly positioned. With the sun filtering light into my master bedroom of a morning from the east along with the airy breeze through the double hung windows, I felt nothing but serenity in that room. Of a morning both myself & my puppy enjoyed feeling the suns rays on our skin as we had our morning coffee. By night, there would be no place Id rather be... the back deck offers such a grand platform to stargaze. I would marvel in the night sky on many a crystal clear dark & starry moonlit night. It truly is beautiful. Winter on the back deck is also a treat as the sun would set beaming warmth directly into the house through the bi-folds. ENTERTAINING - Progressive dinner parties were born to me and Glengarrie! I used to have so much fun, offering my lucky friends a progressive dinner party in this old girl. We would start with entree on the back deck, move into the dining room for main & end up on the sofa in lounge for delectable dessert before moving to the family room for last drinks! There was no need for change of restaurant. She gave more than expected every time. PARTIES... a plentiful! I christened the back deck & new 7m of bifold on my back deck with a party of 60 people enjoying the space of the rooms combined. POOL - I love my pool. With full access sun & plenty of privacy - it was definitely Lucys (my furry one - whoof whoof) favourite part of the house! DETACHED DWELLING - it was my office but I always thought itd make a perfect studio bedroom. The views are amazing. I would count my blessings every day! The peace it gave me looking out of the water was a significant advantage to office work. Never mind the dip to cool off every day in winter! Glorious! KITCHEN - space! HUGE! A great place to huddle & gather over food! PEOPLE - of Northgate/Nundah are spectacular. Its a very caring neighbourhood for each other, our children & our pets. I love the people & families of Northgate & I will miss them all dearly. The newly & ever developing Nundah precinct has many a good cafe for a bite to eat and a glass of wine or 2! Eat Street markets at Portside are nice & close & a favourite past time as is attending the races at Eagle Farm/Doomben only a few kms away.
