New Album Update: Been a while, so I wanted to update you all on where we are w/ the new albums. Were still working on two. Approx 12 songs on each, w/ the intention of definitely releasing one of them this year. Most likely the more commercial electric one. Three songs have been finalized so far, Honestly, Marshas Sleeping and Another Day in the Apocalypse. Zach Zisk-in is still mixing the albums, as always. Real Roger Houdaille is still the primary producer on them. A newcomer to the Ed Hale and The Transcendence team, Jake McCaffray (a brilliant recording artist in his own right) did most of the tracking and engineering. It took us a good solid 2 years to record them. About two months ago we hit a slight snag in the mixing stage. As you know we went a bit crazy on these albums, layering them with a ton of instruments from musicians all over the country, with the intention of cleaning it up and picking and choosing what would go where during the mixing stage. But with us not down in FL with Zach, it was becoming too confusing to do it all over email. So we paused to brainstorm a solution. Which we believe weve now found. This weekend I will be flying to LA to spend a week or two pre-mixing the rest of the songs with Fernando Perdomo at Reseda Ranch Studios. Essentially WE will be listening to each song and then deciding what goes where, call it arranging, and then we will shoot them one by one down to Zach in FL to do the final mixes and mastering. Hence the hold up. As some of you know Fernando and I are like brothers. In both the good and bad ways. Weve been in the band together now for 12 years. He tends to be a purist and I tend to be a whatever Im feeling in the moment. So yes we are aware that we are asking for a rollicking roller coaster ride locking ourselves up in a studio together for ten days with no producer or other band members around. But Im sure that will only add to a more exciting outcome musically . Should be able to have a more definitive update on the status of the albums in about two weeks.
