New Blog article by Industrious athlete Jen H! She was one of the most hesitant people EVER to start CrossFit, and here she is 15 months later sharing her story. You are so awesome Jen, and we love having you at Industrious! Thank you for sharing your story!! "I am tall, I always have been. In grade school I was always crowned tallest ‘person’ in the class. An honor not so appealing to a girl. At least not this girl because tall also meant awkward. And awkward created shy. Then came Junior High and with it sports. We’re not talking race-around-the gym-floor-on-carts sports, this was real sports like basketball and volleyball. Within about the first week of Junior High I was pegged as a natural – the tall girl! I was so excited to be taught how to play sports so I would not be awkward and I could overcome being shy. And because they all thought I was a natural I figured this would be easy. "Tall didn’t work out so well for me. Turns out being a natural means I didn’t need to be taught anything. I was just supposed to know how to play sports and I was supposed to automatically know how to slam dunk or spike a volleyball. Of course I didn’t and of course I failed. Then the bullying started and followed me throughout Junior High. Peers, teachers, coaches and even family all had their laughs at my expense. Junior High was rough. By the time I hit high school I was officially a ‘Hater of all Sports and Athletes’! They had hurt me, I feared them and I wanted nothing to do with them. And this stuck with me until I was 39 years old." crossfitindustrious/blog/867-who-am-i
