New Delhi: Delhi High Court on Friday ruled that anointment of his son as successor by Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari was illegal but refused to stay the ceremony scheduled for Saturday. Bench of Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice R.S. Endlaw said the function is not legal and issued notices to the Centre, Wakf Board and Mr. Bukhari seeking their response on the three PILs challenging the Imam’s decision to appoint his son as the Naib Imam. During arguments on the three petitions the Central and the Wakf Board demanded to stay the anointment ceremony
