New Egypt Speedway’s All Star Cup Shootout Set For Thursday, October 3rd New Egypt, NJ (Sept. 16, 2013) – On Thursday, October 3rd, New Egypt Speedway will play host to it’s first annual All Star Cup Shootout. After the final weekend of the season long accumulated points standings New Egypt’s Billy Pauch is tied with Grandview and Big Diamond’s Craig VonDohren atop the standings heading into the main event in October. Pauch was able to catch VonDohren, who had lead the standings since they began, with a win in the special Jersey Rush event in late August. Drivers entered for their home tracks where their finishes were tracked and paired with points from April until August. The driver’s best eight finishes were counted, on ly four of which could have been wins. Both Pauch and VonDohren came away with the perfect hand of four wins and four-second place finishes. VonDohren took advantage of entering for multiple tracks by registering for both Big Diamond and Grandview Speedways and quickly ascended to the top of the standings in Week 1. It was not until Week 20 that Pauch was able to catch and tie him. Not only is there a tie atop the standings, but there is a three way tie for third place between I88 and Utica Rome’s Mike Mahaney, Albany Saratoga’s Brett Hearn, and New Egypt’s Ryan Godown. They are all only one point behind Pauch and VonDohren with 115 points. Mahaney was another driver who took advantage of registering for two tracks with I88 and Utica Rome Speedways. Rounding out the top 10 in points and making up the 10 guaranteed starters for the Shootout are Fonda’s Stewart Friesen, Bridgeport’s Rick Laubach and Richie Pratt, Jr., Grandview and Big Diamond’s Frank Cozze, and New Egypt’s David VanHorn. Not only will the registered drivers be competing for the $10,000 to win, 40 lap All Star Cup Shootout winnings, they will also be competing for the title of All Star Cup champion and the bonuses that come with it.
