Our main objectives are increasing women’s access to finance and financial services, building the capacity and skills of women to access finance, and fast-tracking women’s leadership in the financial sector. Our head office is in Johannesburg and we have chapters in 15 countries including: Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. New Faces New Voices seeks to appoint a Consultant with expertise in the area of financial inclusion with good research and policy analysis skills. This is a on a one-year contract. The Consultant should have a good understanding of the regulatory and policy environment that governs the area of financial inclusion in different African countries and globally. S/he will support our work in several countries this year including Egypt, Rwanda, Mozambique, Zambia and the DRC where we seek to accelerate the financial inclusion of women. Responsibilities: Reviewing financial inclusion policies from the Central Bank and relevant Ministries to see where the gaps and opportunities lie to advance women’s financial inclusion; Reviewing the role that financial institutions play in promoting women’s financial inclusion and which one offer targeted services to women; Assisting in conducting qualitative and quantitative research studies to gage the levels of financial access and inclusion by women in specific countries; Working with country offices determine how NFNV can add value in influencing policy and removing regulatory and policy barriers that limit women’s financial inclusion; Conducting research of global trends in financial inclusion; Identifying key stakeholders to work with in target countries Organising in-country meetings and conferences on this issue together with other stakeholders; Liaising with donors who are supporting this work; Drafting program reports for internal and external use. Requirements: Master’s degree; Good research and report writing skills; Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines; Ability to work under pressure; Sound decision making and problem solving skills Ability to work independently and within a team setting; Well-developed interpersonal skills and excellent patterns of communication; Ability to communicate in French would be an asset The Consultancy will last for one year starting on or before 1 February 2014 for three days per week.
