New Jack Caputo Reading Group: The Weakness of God: A Theology of the Event - Week 1. Please join us this coming Monday 20th January at 10 pm EST (New York) for a new weekly gathering to discuss post-modern heretic philosopher Jack Caputo’s first major work on radical theology. In Part 1 Caputo launches a frontal assault on the Christian doctrine of omnipotence, and argues that God is a weak force, the powerless power of vulnerable, self-giving love. In Part II Jack turns to the New Testament stories of Yeshua teaching and practice of the kingdom of God and unpacks the notion of the weakness of God in terms of a scared anarchy and the poetics of the impossible.
