New Jersey State AFL-CIO Joins Elected Leaders and Coalition Partners to Kickoff Minimum Wage Events in North and South Jersey The New Jersey State AFL-CIO was proud to join yesterday with top New Jersey elected officials – Senator Barbara Buono, Senate President Steve Sweeney, Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver, and Newark Mayor Corey Booker – along with many community partners, during two events to support approval of this year’s ballot initiative to raise the minimum wage. The event was organized as part of the Working Families United for New Jersey, Inc. “Raise the Wage” campaign. As a founding member of Working Families United for New Jersey, Inc., the New Jersey State AFL-CIO has been working closely with our community allies to advance a progressive agenda which benefits our state’s working families. Raising the minimum wage remains a matter of the highest importance to our coalition and the people of New Jersey who deserve a raise after years of wage stagnation and rising costs. Raising the minimum wage would help the hard working families of our state who are struggling to keep their heads above water. By approving a raise for hard-working New Jersey families, we can generate the economic activity our state desperately needs to create jobs and grow our economy. Your vote this November 5, 2013, will determine the future of the minimum wage in New Jersey. To learn more about the “Raise the Wage” campaign visit raisethewagenj.org.
