New Job Lead Java Developers x 3 - J4437 Industry: IT Job Type: Contract Location: Newcastle upon Tyne, England Salary: £450.00 - £500 per day Lead Java Developers x 3 6 month contracts Up to £500 per day Newcastle, North East Our client, a leading Public Sector organisation, is seeking to appoint three additional Java Developers to join their leading development team on site in Newcastle. As the Java Developers you will assist our clients digital services management and team working in the fast aced development environment to drive user driven - digital prototypes forward. The suitable candidates will hold demonstrable experience working within Agile environments, hold commercial experience in programming and back-end Java development and hold experience leading a team. Key tasks and Deliverables: . * Lead the rapid development of user driven-digital prototypes to identify technical options and inform architectural approached , collaborating with other team members to write tests, codes and documentation for new systems. * Work with Solutions architects to design and implement RESTful APIs for seamless integration with internal and external systems. * Ensure that new and updated digital services are thoroughly tested for performance and are able to handle specified load. * Ensure systems are robust, scalable, open and secure with appropriate overall system design and integration points in order to deliver a high quality API. * Collaborate with Technical Architects, Agile test engineers and software developers to build up a robust automated test suite to work in continuous integration environment. Specialist Skills & Requirements ● Experience building server-side web applications and detailed knowledge of at least one programming language (we use a range of languages including ruby, python and scala) and/or detailed understanding and experience of front-end web development (HTML/CSS/JS) ● An ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience ● Experience working on technical projects within a team ● Working knowledge of unix-like operating systems such as Linux and/or Mac OS X ● Knowledge of the use of version control systems such as subversion or git ● Ability to quickly research and learn new programming tools and techniques Desirable ● Knowledge of relational and non-relational database systems ● System administration and configuration management skills ● Experience presenting work at user groups and conferences ● Experience of building and scaling high-traffic websites ● Understanding of the use of Responsive Web Design ● Experience of working with JavaScript libraries to produce data visualizations ● Experience of designing and maintaining public HTTP APIs ● Experience of handling large data sets and scaling their handling and storage Previous Experience: * Demonstrable experience of agile practices and techniques * Experience in leading a team of developers and providing overall guidance and setting overall development direction. * Demonstrable experience in programming and backend software development in either JAVA c#, Scala, Python or Ruby. * Excellent commercial experience in programming and back-end software development in JAVA * Skilled in being able to communicate technical information to a range of stakeholders by adopting appropriate communication styles.
