New Job Linux Support Engineer - DW/LSE Industry: New Media and Internet Job Type: Permanent Location: Kingston upon Thames, England Salary: £35000 - £50000 per annum + Benefits Linux Support Engineer This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Linux Support Engineer to join a leading digital agency, must have experience of Deployment of new and updated systems using automation tools such as Puppet, Chef, Salt, Vagrant to perform software deployments in a Linux environment. With a mixture of Linux and MS Windows servers and you should be keen to get your hands dirty in either of these environments. Some of the servers are office-based, most are located in the Docklands data centre. Some travel to the data centre may be required from time to time although this is rare because our client operate a lights out management policy. Web servers are in use 24/7/365. Key Responsibilities: Deployment of new and updated systems using automation tools such as Puppet, Chef, Salt, Vagrant to perform software deployments in a Linux environment. Action support requests from other departments within the business. Building, configuring, and support of all physical, virtual, and cloud based services, servers, network hardware, storage, and security services. Such as switches, firewall, load balancers, etc. Manage a variety of projects from inception to completion. Provide documentation and procedural information as required. Provide 24/7 On-Call support for the operational environment as part of a rota system. Contribute to and undertake activities for continuous development of your personal skills and knowledge. Comply with and follow organisational policies and procedures, including health and safety. Ensure that your knowledge of products and services is kept up to date. You will have proven experience in: In depth Linux/UNIX - Ideally Ubuntu and Redhat; installed and worked with two or more distributions without GUI access, some knowledge of Kernel interaction, usage on both server and desktop. Experience writing system scripts and regular expressions, with at least 3 of Perl, bash, ruby, python, php. Writing scripts that interact with others sdks, eg aws-sdk. A working knowledge of networking and security. A working knowledge cloud services. IaaS, SaaS, PaaS, MaaS. A working knowledge of MySQL or Oracle database administration Good working knowledge with a deployment tools Puppet, Chef, or Salt. Monitoring and Event Management (Zenoss, Nagios, SNMP) Email (MS Exchange, sendmail, Postfix, gmail) The technical team is responsible for all owned servers, storage and network equipment although the recent emphasis is on deploying services into the cloud. The team therefore spans a wide range of technical disciplines. You can be assured that there will be ample opportunity to extend your knowledge and gain new skills.
