As a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit a dynamic, proactive and committed Projects Capability Development Manager to complement their established and successful team. Reporting to the Head of Project Management, this newly created role offers an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join a globally renowned market leader, and requires the successful candidate to be both energetic and consultative in their style of identifying, implementing and sustaining change management within a cradle to grave multi £m project environment. The successful candidate will be tasked with driving the development of project management capability across the group through the establishment of effective business unit PMOs, whilst assessing capability and developing tailored continuous improvement plans and the associated best practices, tools and processes for the complete portfolio, projects and programme range. Primarily responsible for the establishment of an effective and vibrant international projects community, undertaking P3M3 capability assessments and agreeing development plans for each business whilst selecting projects based on their impact to the overall portfolio in order to achieve the required level and offering respectively, you will lead and coordinate the development of processes, systems, tools and templates essential for the business to achieve the desire capability development plans, and will champion the effective use of Portfolio Management tools and techniques in order to drive better decision making in the actual selection of projects. You will plan and manage the overall change programme needed to support the capability improvement plans, and critically, will ensure that stakeholders are informed and engaged at every stage of the process so that the changes are successfully implemented and sustained within the business, and therefore effective influential communication and motivational skills are essential for success in the role where a top-down-tell style will simply fail - but where a consultative, passionate and creative approach to change management will ensure success both for the individual and the community they create, so the ability to review processes to support adherence to best practice and assist in the development of capability within the business units is an essential requirement for the position. To be considered for this challenging role, you will demonstrate previous experience of successful and sustained continuous process and programme improvement and will have personally managed multi complex business projects using a structured project management process and at least one large programme as well as possessing experience and expertise in the use of portfolio management and tools to evaluate and prioritise projects. You will have undertaken P3M3 or similar and subsequently developed tailored and effective improvement plans, and will realistically be degree qualified or above and a PRINCE2 Practitioner. Able to work autonomously and as part of a team and able to be based in Peterborough with the flexibility to travel internationally as required, this role will NOT suit the more traditional bullish or aggressive project management style more suited to other industry sectors - but instead demands a consultative and effective practitioner who will create processes and their associated measurements of success and both inform and empower those working within the programme to develop the community and advance the business with consistency across targeted areas.
