Functie omschrijving Manager Research & Development In this position, together with your team you are working on the future of our best-in-class products, that combine mechanics, electrics, electronics and certified safety systems with extreme space requirements, high quality demands, short lead times and affordable costs. You are an active part of the global development network of ThyssenKrupp Elevator, an international company with more than 49.000 people. This position will work in a matrix organization and has a functional reporting line to the Vice President R&D/PLM Access Solutions as well as a disciplinary reporting line to the Managing Director of the Manufacturing Center Krimpen. Functie eisen Manager Research & Development Above-average university degree in engineering science 5 - 7 years of relevant work experience, which should include demonstrated cooperative leadership qualities such as conflict/issue resolution, the ability to run a major project or serve as project manager on a program team and the ability to ensure a successful project lifecycle Ability to present and communicate effectively with stakeholders and senior business leadership of departments, units and partners participating in projects. Strong organizational skills combined with a process oriented and systematic approach and the ability to work effectively with internal and external project teams Good knowledge on relevant technical standards and certifications Very good command of English is mandatory Good command of Dutch is beneficial Essential Duties and Responsibilities: You take the functional and disciplinary lead of a team of about 12 engineers, includingproject management, mechanical and electrical engineering, system engineering as well as test & qualification. You secure and enhance the competitiveness of ThyssenKrupp Access Solutions in close cooperation with Product Management You proactively drive product improvement and innovation by taking part in the definition and evaluation of development projects. You also identify and manage risks associated with this projects. You ensure meeting deadlines, budgets and required quality and take responsibility for resource planning by actively influencing budgeting, prioritization and task allocation. You establish a network outside and inside the group in order to challenge our approach and foster the leading innovative position of products, features, processes, cost and quality we currently hold. You take part in negotiations with suppliers and external development partners and also guide and monitor these partners. You specify and implement systematic work methods as well as specific targets and monitor results. You motivate your team and systematically coach and develop your employees. The systematic encouragement of cooperation, coordination and taking initiative within the department and with other departments and units, such as product management, manufacturing and field organizations is also part of your job as it is the coordination with notified bodies and authorities. You participate in the global ThyssenKrupp Elevator R&D network and in the management meetings of ThyssenKrupp Access Solutions. In the global R&D committees and meetings you act in place of the Vice President R&D Access Solutions, if necessary. You proactively promote, implement and live safety at work to ensure that our employees return back to their families safely every day.
