New Pierrefonds Public Library (Montreal), yet to be built, wins design award “There will be a media lab, software for 3D printing, a children’s lab for activities and learning. The goal is to improve the quality of life of the people who use the facility.” According to statistics supplied by the borough, library books continue to be popular, with an average of 24,000 books for young people borrowed every month and an average of 3,500 audio-visual borrows recorded every month. Construction of the $20.5-million project begins in November 2015 and the opening is scheduled for the summer of 2017. The project is already making waves within architectural circles. Last month, Canadian Architect magazine awarded the design concept for the library with the 2014 Award of Excellence. montrealgazette/news/local-news/west-island-gazette/yet-to-be-built-new-pierrefonds-library-wins-design-award/
