New South Wales Touch Football has made direct contact with Touch Football Australia and in turn the insurer of our sport, Sportscover. Participants of any competition must be aware of the low air quality due to the current fire situation throughout NSW, especially for asthma sufferers who should be aware of the dangers in relation to their existing condition. Members are advised that it is the participants choice to continue to play or not, and that TFA/ NSWTA/ Hornets and the Affiliate do not accept any responsibility for any injury or sickness that may arise due to such conditions, that it is the participants responsibility/ choice. Currently the NSW Department of Health have what is called the Air Quality Index (AQI). Currently these alerts are being updated hourly and as such we would advise to watch their website for information to assist any decision you may make. environment.nsw.gov.au/aqms/aqialerts.htm environment.nsw.gov.au/AQMS/aqi.htm For heat related activities consider the above as well as: • Drink plenty of water even if you do not feel thirsty • Put wet towels or cool packs on your arms or neck We do however advise that participants with heart, lung and respiratory problems such as Asthma etc. take this into account with their participation with the difficulties they my face in these conditions.
