New Student Advisor 4 Temporary Positions South Mountain Community College Student Enrollment Services Now - June 30th, 2013 25 hrs per week $14.50 per hour, no benefits (Not Open for Board Approved Employees) The Student Enrollment Services Department is seeking four qualified people to advise new students in iStartSmart orientation, placement testing, advisement, and registration sessions. Job Duties: · Assist in the coordination and facilitation of South Mountain Community College new student success initiatives (iStart Smart, iConnect, First Year Experience) · This position will require person to administer and proctor all placement testing · Advise new students on registration processes, placement test, general education courses, and first semester courses based on interest and placement scores · Greet students and guests and provide instructions for starting the registration session · Assist students with logging into and using my.maricopa.edu for class searches and registration · Provide next steps after registration and directions to other campus services Desired Qualifications: · Bachelor’s Degree. · Experience in academic advising at a community college or university · Caring, friendly and outgoing personality; must be able to create excellent first impressions with new students; strong public speaking and presentation skills · Knowledge of an on-line Information System such as SIS and experience working with first year college students in the Recruitment or Enrollment Process.
