New Taraba Acting Governor Set To Join APC, Jostle For Party Ticket There are indications that the new acting governor, Alhaji Sani Abubakar Danlandi has began moves to defect to the All Progressive Congress (APC) to enable him contest the governorship election of the state. Abubakar, a member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is currently meeting with national officials of the APC and other stakeholders from Taraba State in Abuja to conclude plans on how to get the party ticket, a source privy to the meeting said. The meeting our source said was facilitated by leader of the APC in Taraba Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan representing Taraba North at the National Assembly. The source said Abubakar is negotiating on getting the governorship ticket of the party in the next election. He is believed to have secured the support of Senator Aisha to contest the next governorship election. The door to contest PDP governorship ticket has been technically shut against Abubakar, who did not purchase the PDP intent and nomination forms before the deadline for the submission of the forms. The Supreme Court had on Friday nullified the October 4, 2012 impeachment of Abubakar, ordering that he should be reinstated as the deputy governor. The state house of assembly directed him to resume as the acting governor on Monday. AIT
