New York City FC midfielder Frank Lampard could be set to prolong his loan at Manchester City after a successful spell thus far with the Premier League champions. MANCHESTER -- Manuel Pellegrini has admitted Manchester City need to keep Frank Lampard as they wait to discover if his loan spell at the Etihad Stadium will be extended. The City manager believes it would be better for the 36-year-old to stay with the Premier League champions, rather than depart to link up with New York City FC as they prepare for their inaugural Major League Soccer season. Lampard, who has scored five goals for City, is on loan for the first half of the season but could leave in January just as Yaya Toure departs for the African Nations Cup, where he will represent Ivory Coast.
