New York Film Academy Opens a New Campus in South Beach Florida The New York Film Academy is pleased to announce the opening of a new campus in Miami, Florida. Now, NYFA’s internationally renowned programs in Filmmaking, Acting for Film, Producing, Photography, and Screenwriting will be available amid Miami’s bustling communities. Courses begin from September 2013 onwards. Located in the Penthouse Suite at 420 Lincoln Road, just minutes away from the white sands of South Beach, students will be doing a lot more than just soaking up the sun. New York Film Academy’s incredible programs give students the hands-on-experience they need, writing, producing, directing, acting, and editing their own films while at the same time providing in-class instruction with award-winning filmmakers. September programs run from 4-8 weeks, with both day and evening courses. Catering to Miami’s flourishing Latino community, and the to the wide growth of its Latin Television and Film industry, New York Film Academy’s South Beach Campus will also feature classes in Spanish as well as filmmaking and acting workshops specializing in Telenovelas. NYFA is thrilled to provide this beautiful new environment to the Miami community, and looks forward to bringing a whole new crop of talent to this exciting and colorful city where the Film and Television industry are continuing to grow and expand every day. The Miami-Dade Office of Film, Print, and Television encourages local productions and supplies the industry with no-cost location scouting and permits which will be a great benefit to Film Academy students. Films such as Casino Royale, Miami Vice and There’s Something About Mary were shot in Miami, as well as a plethora of television commercials and music videos. Miami has been host to the MTV Video Awards and Latin Grammy Award Show and draws celebrities and dignitaries from all over the world. Numerous Latin Films and Television shows are currently in production in Miami including Las dos caras de Ana (FV Productions), Mega Street Packages (Spanish Broadcasting System), Escandalo TV de Ano Nuevo (Telefutura Network) and numerous Telemundo productions (including Seguro y Urgente, Dame Chocolate and La Viuda de Blanco). Throw in the annual Miami International Film Festival, the countless Playhouses and Performing Arts Centers, and it is easy to see why Miami is rapidly becoming a mecca for the arts and the ideal location for the study of filmmaking and acting. Founded in 1992 by Jerry Sherlock, a former film, television and theatre producer, New York Film Academy is a unique educational institution, devoted to providing the most focused filmmaking, acting, and animation instruction in the world.
