New addition for travelers to Westman islands Next month will Viking tours begin sailing between Westman island (Vestmannaeyjar) and the mainland. Viking tours recently bought a new boat and are planning on daily sailing schedule between Westman island and Landeyjahöfn. This will boost transportation and communication between Westman island and the mainland. It’s a new and different addition and is well suited for groups. Previously has Herjólfur only been sailing between Westman islands and the mainland. Viking tour are about to change that by offering new addition to transportation between Westman islands and tha mainland. Normally it takes Herjólfur about half an hour to sail Landeyjahöfn to the Westman Islands in good weather. But during the wintertime Herjolfur has to change harbour and sail to Þorlákshöfn harbour which takes approxemitly 3 hours. Viking tours aim at sailing between Westman islands and Landeyjahöfn all year around without having to think a lot about the shoal in Landeyjahöfn harbour, which Herjolfur has to do. The new boat, has been given the name Viking , has capacity for 94 passengers plus their former boat Viking II, which has capacity for 50 people. The new boat is a great addition for Westman islands and tourism on the island, particulary during the wintertime.
