New bill banning Congress from first class flying CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A new house bill proposes that members of Congress be banned from using your money to fly first class. The lawmakers who introduced the bill said that when the nation is trying to stay afloat under 17 trillion dollars of debt, it’s irresponsible for members of Congress to make luxury accommodations at the expense of the taxpayers they represent. Mark Lussier of West Springfield told 22News, “I don’t necessarily begrudge them for flying first class, I think the bigger question is do they spend our money wisely? Their vested interests and political favors that are being done. They’ve lost sight of what they’re really there for.” There would be some exceptions under the proposed law, like making accommodations for a disability or medical condition.
