New schools for Dublin Fingal in 2015. Critical educational infrastructure to be delivered by Fine Gael led Government. Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell, is pleased with confirmation that construction will begin on two new primary schools in Rush and Balbriggan in 2015. “I am pleased with the confirmation by the Department of Education and Skills that work will begin on the construction Gaelscoil Ros Eo in Rush and Scoil Chormaic CNS in Balbriggan. In addition to this, St. Finian’s Community College in Swords and Lusk National School are both to be extended in the New Year. “The Department of Education and Skills has also confirmed that work will continue on the new schools for St. Oliver Plunkett’s in Malahide and St. Catherine’s National School in Rush, while the extension for Ardgillan Community College will also be completed in 2015. “This level of investment in these schools will be great news for these local communities. With the youngest age demographic in the State, and such a fast-growing population, we must continue to increase capacity levels in schools throughout the constituency. “While this is positive news, the capacity issue will almost certainly exacerbate in the coming years, particularly in the areas surrounding Malahide and Swords. In these areas, the number of children attending primary level schools is currently higher than the capacity of secondary level schools. For this reason, it is essential that the Department of Education and Skills acts to provide greater infrastructure and resources to these communities to resolve the capacity issue before it worsens. “I am delighted to see that the Minister has recognised that new schools, and school extensions, must be provided to the North County. I will continue to actively engage with the Minister and the Department in order to ensure resources are put in place to cater for the number of students we will see progressing from primary level education to secondary education in the coming years. I believe it is of the utmost importance that our children receive their education in an environment which is conducive to their learning.” alanfarrell.ie/new-schools-for-dublin-fingal-in-2015/
