New to being single advice please Recently single mum to 3 school age kids. how do other do it on a pension? After I pay the minimum on the home loan (cheaper then the average rent at $360 pw) pay insurances, electricity, phone, rates and water I have less than $150 a fortnight to use for food, fuel and whatever else may pop up. Can I even live off that? I have had to give up at job that paid $2500pf because it was shift work (and foolishly didnt save any). With no family and day care not being open I am now looking for day time work. but also concerned about school holidays, what do I do with them? Sorry lots of self pity and poor me in this post. Ideas would be great. The ex does pay child support, and has said he would help with the house, but is not reliable. And to sell the house atm would mean I would walk away with a debt due to low housing prices.
