New tools for the SNARS toolbox! Throughout the years there - TopicsExpress

New tools for the SNARS toolbox! Throughout the years there have been many hams that like to track down mystery signals, these signals could be a lost hiker or a fox hunt and in a lot of cases a malicious signal. Many amateur radio clubs have committees of people that train and practice the skills of tracking down signals for the fun of the hunt. Many clubs have fox hunting competitions for prizes and or bragging rights and you can often read about them in the QST publication. There are many techniques for finding signals such as an HT without an antenna or a hand held Yagi antenna. Some tools are fairly inexpensive, while others can be very pricey, The Sierra Nevada Amateur Radio Society has purchased a few Doppler Directional finding units and the SNARS club is looking for people to fill some positions in a Dfing team. If you are interested in joining this team then please contact John Byerly: [email protected]. The video below is very similar to the units that were purchased by SNARS and shows how well they work.
