Similar reaction appeared with the Indonesian war ship naming incident. There was spontaneous chest thumbing and righteous indignation and we “put on hold” bilateral cooperation with the Indonesian Army. Subsequently, CNA reported that the Indonesian army chief “apologised” for the naming; to which we were quick to accept the “apology” and conceded to resume the bilateral cooperation with the Indonesian Armed Forces. The very next day the Indo Army Chief denied that he had apologised. Instead, he clarified that he was expressing his regret that the naming decision was final and would not be changed. However, we seemed to ignore this and continued with resumption of cooperation with their army. No respond from the govt for this slap in the face.
