#News: #Ethiopia and the #Philippines conclude air services agreement Ethiopia and the Philippines on Friday (October 10) concluded an Air Services Agreement (ASA) to define the aviation relationship and allow for exchange of flights between the two countries, according to Carmelo Arcilla, Executive Director of the Philippines Civil Aeronautics Board. The agreement permits seven flights a week between Manila and Ethiopia, and unlimited flights between Ethiopia and other airports in the Philippines, with the exception of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, as well as intermediate stops in Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, India and the Middle East. He said the agreement would create enabling conditions “for the enhancement of our air connectivity and the development of our aviation network, especially since Africa is an emerging market and growth area.” He noted that while the current traffic between the Philippines and Ethiopia is small, given Ethiopia’s strategic location in North East Africa the agreement would allow for new connections between the Philippines and Africa, including the Middle East.
