News of an event in Haddington. Hello Dunfermline Folk Club A quick note to extend a warm invitation to you and your members to come along if you can to this year’s Trad on the Tyne festival in Haddington (29 - 31 August). Our headline acts this year are Karine Polwart on the Saturday evening and Blazin’ Fiddles on the Sunday evening, and we’ve also got the Friel Sisters, Alex Hodgson, Rachel Gray and Amy Low, and the Victorian Trout Conspiracy. The full programme is on our website – tradonthetyne – and I attach a copy of our poster. Mairi Campbell is running two workshops (singing and step dancing) this year, and other workshops will be run by Nigel Gatherer (mixed instruments), Dave Francis (guitar) and Adie Elias Baako (African dance). Nigel will also be leading a ‘slow session’ on the Sunday. We’ve an Open Stage on Saturday and late-night pub sessions on both the Friday and Saturday nights. There will be a series of come-and-try sessions (various instruments), a massed pipes and drums performance, and, of course, there’s a load of family entertainment (storytelling, magic show, a re-enactment group, craft tent, pony rides, face painting etc). We’d love to see you there. In the meantime, many thanks for giving this your attention. Best wishes Alastair Bruce Trad on the Tyne tradonthetyne
