Newsletter from Susan at Poetry Space As we reach the end of 2014 I want to thank all the poets and supporters who are helping to make this page a wonderful forum for the discussion of poetry and for posting poems that you would like comment and feedback on. Constructive criticism really helps and encourages so this is brilliant. Lets continue to keep posts to poetry and poetry related news and discussion please. I have noticed a few posts with unrelated subject matter creeping in... these are being removed and persistent posters will be too so that Poetry Space remains interesting for true poetry fans. Remember too that if you love to read and write poetry then take a look at the opportunities at our main site: poetryspace.co.uk As we enter the new year Poetry Space will remain committed to widening participation in poetry and publishing both new and established poets in its quarterly showcase, in the PS challenge and in its pamphlets, collections and anthologies. I am committed to social enterprise and want to take Poetry Space further along this route. With this in mind I applied and have been accepted by the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) for fellowship. I am hoping this will result in lots of new and exciting opportunities for Poetry Space as a whole. Publication schedules are slow, so if you approach us to have your collection considered please be patient during the selection process and right through to publication. Please dont approach Poetry Space for sponsorship for your project unless you have already supported us by buying books and/or or becoming a friend. I dont take a personal salary and books are subsidised heavily through my investment in the company until such time as funds generated by friends, customers, the fee paying competitions, submission calls meet outgoing expenses. This is fine. Im very happy doing this but I dont respond to pressure or harassment. This wont get you published....faster...or at all. Some of the greatest poets that ever lived wrote because they could not live without doing so.They also read and read and read, learned from what had come before and learned from their contemporaries. You cant beat that as a poetic education. Wishing you all lots of happy writing hours in 2015. Susan xxx
