***Newton Shelter Open House*** Everyone is invited to join the HSCC staff at the new county shelter in Newton on Wednesday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to celebrate the opening of the new, state of the art facility. On Monday June 16, Catawba County opened its doors to a new animal shelter, beginning a public / private partnership between the county and HSCC. At the new facility, HSCC is responsible for the adoptions as well as the care of all animals other than those in quarantine. The new shelter has been designed with features to improve the medical and physical care of the animals while at the shelter and subsequently help increase adoptions. These include, separate areas at the facility for adoptions, providing a more comfortable environment for citizens who are considering adopting; acquaintance rooms for potential adopters to spend time getting to know the animal; indoor / outdoor runs providing a healthier environment for the animals during their stay and so much more. At the open house the community will be able to learn more about the animals available for adoption, how to easily help support HSCC by bringing items from our wish list such as bleach, litter, puppy/ kitten food, and how to become a volunteer. Tours of the new facility will be available with the HSCC staff.All visitors will be eligible to enter a free drawing for over 50 animal related gifts. Please share.
