Sustained political will, reliable financial support, robust monitoring and evaluation, are not technical interventions such as rapid diagnostic tests for malaria or rapid breathing counters for pneumonia, yet these are some of the factors leading to national scale up of the iCCM program. Let us think about what we need to focus on to scale up. Its not always about the proven interventions, we know they work, let us consider enabling, environmental, and societal/cultural factors that have tremendous influence as well.
