Next week my family will gather together in Vermont, to lay to - TopicsExpress

Next week my family will gather together in Vermont, to lay to rest the woman who was my greatest fan and champion, the one who taught me that no aspiration worth pursuing was too great, and no kind gesture, too small to be monumental in the life of another. I carry her name with me in the form of a pin affixed to the inside lining of that old, tattered black leather jacket, that I wear to every gig. She is with me, always. She will be with me, this weekend, as I gear up for another show. She remains my eternal confidant, though our hands might no longer reach one another, though she lost the ability to hear me sing years before she finally passed. She is with me. Always. And though I never mentioned it on this page until now, I am not the most spiritual person, but since her passing, I have felt her presence even stronger than in life. She will infuse my every performance with her dry wit, her no fear, take no prisoners attitude, and the strength of the greatest lioness in the jungle. I wrote a song about her, in honor of her 90th birthday. I am not ready to share it. But one day I will be, and the depth of my love for this woman will not be lost in doubt. My best friend, my mentor, my soulmate, My Nana... Rest in Peace. I love you with all of my heart and soul. You will always be the one who hung the stars.
